Congratulations to the folks over at Apple for creating huge lines around the world for the release of their iPhone 5S and 5C. It is so impressive to see the anticipation on people’s faces as they wait in line at every Apple Store, Verizon and anywhere else that iPhones are sold. Dressed not in work clothes, but gym shorts and pajama bottoms. Either a sign that they have camped out over night (or multiple nights) or they are taking all of their clothing allowance to buy a really expensive status upgrade.

It is a phone, yes. But really it is Tickle Me Elmo and Cabbage Patch Kids all over again. “It is new, and I want it now!” Don’t get me wrong, I love Apple products and have an iPhone, I just don’t care enough about replacing something as soon as a new one comes out and chasing technology at such a high price. I guess it is just about keeping things in perspective. I have to go now, my Starbucks is getting cold.
